Uncharted Hits Theatres – Here’s What To Expect

Fans of the Playstation game may recognize the new movie “Uncharted” hitting all theatres starting Friday, Feb. 18.

Plot

Starring Tom Holland as Nathan Drake, the character explores a new origin story while reenacting a few of the storylines from the game. The movie begins explaining backstories of the characters and major plot points from the game. Alongside Drake is Victor “Sully” Sullivan, played by Mark Wahlberg. Alongside one another, the young thief and veteran treasure hunter make for a great pair. Both characters are looking for their next big adventure and Sully recruits Drake to help him with a heist.

Character Chemistry

The film also stars Sophia Ali as Chloe Frazer who is a mysterious and fun character. The three characters share their fair share of witty banter, which is also noticeable in the video game. Holland and Wahlberg’s chemistry is a fun one, but it is hard to take your eyes away from the fact that Holland is known for his role in Spider-Man. Wahlberg was also too recognizable and seemed to play who he thought that character Sully was, instead of who he actually is.

The plot of the movie is not very serious. With plenty of room for good character chemistry and a few explored plotlines from the video games, it is hard to tell that the film was based off of a video game at all.

Villains

When it comes to on screen villains, the characters cast were somewhat forgettable. Antonio Banderas plays Santiago Moncada and Tati Gabrielle plays Braddock. These villains are meant to be equal rivals to Sully from his past, but they don’t get nearly enough screentime.

Whether you are an avid fan of the “Uncharted” video game or have never heard of it, this movie is great for any adventure-loving movie fanatic. Before you go to the theatre, if you want to watch the trailer, it can be seen here.
