The prominent Centre Pompidou, a breathtaking glass and metal building in the heart of Paris, includes the world’s top art museums, is planning to close from the years of 2023 to 2026. The French government announced that there will be renovations made to the building during that time.

The building opened in 1977, envisioned by two architects, Renzo Piano and Richard Rogers. The Center has become a part of Paris, and its boldness strikes the neighboring buildings around it. It holds The National Museum of Modern Art, which is one of the world’s most-visited galleries in the world, according to CNN.

Renovations

On October 1, 1977, the Centre Pompidou wanted to expand and reconstruct the spaces inside the building. Also, they wanted to better visitors comfort and access. The building soon re-opened on January 1, 2000, showing the public its progress.

According to CNN, the building has shown many signs of aging inside and out of the building. This causes for maintenance to work on the well being of the buildings history that it holds. “These works are a guarantee for the future of the Centre Pompidou,” the venue’s president Serge Lasvignes said. He also, goes on to say, “It is about preserving our first masterpiece — the building — which hasn’t had any significant renovation since 1977.”

The Beauty of Centre Pompidou

Regardless of the aging on the building, it still brings in many visitors from all over the world to see the awe-inspiring art, and the colors that have a deeper meaning to each piece in the museum. Alongside, it shows off Europe’s first collection of modern and contemporary art, shows, debates, activities for children, and mythical architecture. The Centre Pompidou, gives the city of Paris something to look forward to in art itself. The structure of its ambiance is a beautiful thing to see.
