Slices of NYC: The 3 Bridges

Consider this: on your next trip to the Big Apple you find yourself in Lower Manhattan and you want to get to Brooklyn and snap some photos along the way. Do you walk across the iconic Brooklyn Bridge, the impressive Manhattan Bridge, or the humble Williamsburg Bridge? Well, don’t worry because here I will go through the pros and cons of each so you are fully prepared the next time you are stuck not knowing what bridges to cross.

NYC

The Brooklyn Bridge: The towering brick supports of the Brooklyn Bridge are as symbolic of New York City as the Statue of Liberty and Times Square. If you have never walked on the Brooklyn Bridge, it is definitely worth a visit. However, the crowds of tourists can make it a pain to cross and I would argue that the two other bridges on this list offer better views.

NYC

The Manhattan Bridge: While maybe not as famous as its next-door neighbor, the Manhattan Bridge is still a marvel to behold and takes you to essentially the same part of Brooklyn. There are some really great photos that you can shoot from this bridge as you make your way over. After you’ve crossed the river, you can head to Dumbo and the beautiful waterfront to get even more great pics for the Gram.

The Williamsburg Bridge from East River Park

The Williamsburg Bridge: It may be a bit further north and not hold quite the same level of clout as its two older brothers, but the Williamsburg Bridge is still worth a trip. A walk across the river here will give you the best views of Midtown Manhattan, including the Empire State Building, out of the three. As a bonus, you will end up in Williamsburg, one of the hippest neighborhoods in NYC, and you can take a short stroll down to Domino Park and relax by the water.

Hopefully, this guide can be helpful the next time you are deciding how to make your way from Manhattan to Brooklyn, or vice versa. Enjoy the walk and make some good memories along the way!
