Good Taste: Making Their Mark on The Fashion Industry

In the years leading up to the launch of Good Taste, fashion was always a hot topic of discussion for New York City native Pope, and Liberia made, Ahmed Musa. In 2020, the diligent businessmen made their co-founding dream a reality.

For Pope, co-owner and designer, growing up in a Caribbean household had a significant impact on his love for fashion, as did the mass who roam the streets of the city draped in labels as if it were their own personal runway.

During Pope’s earlier years he studied business at Buffalo State College, but the thought of making a name for himself in the fashion industry continuously lingered in the back of his mind.

As Pope was saying goodbye to his life as a college student, Ahmed was creating a name for himself as an entrepreneur by launching the base of Good Taste. Shortly after the birth of his fashion label, he realized he was missing someone with an artistic eye to help bring his designs to life.

Ready to put his business degree to the test, Pope accepted a meeting with Ahmed to discuss the possibilities of having a key role in the company. With the shake of a hand, a dynamic duo was born.

For most, the idea of starting a business during the pandemic made entrepreneurs tremble with fear as the thought of a lack of resources and staff could lead to a turbulent downfall, but Pope and Ahmed were determined to make Good Taste a forced to be reckoned with in the fashion industry.

“The pandemic just motivated us more to be more creative, to be more outside of the box, and to be better versions of ourselves in order to bring that forth and be a better company,” says Pope.

The next order of business was to decipher what their signature style would be. Being that streetwear was a major part of their everyday life it only seemed fitting to make Good Taste a street attire brand. In order to stand out from other streetwear companies, they only release limited pieces in order to give consumers a sense of originality.

“We gravitated towards streetwear because we engulfed ourselves in the culture that streetwear truly embodies,” says Pope. The fashion moguls have no intention of limiting their brand to streetwear though, as they pride themselves in being versatile artists.

Since Good Taste’s launch back in 2020, Pope and Ahmed have hosted numerous pop-up shops around the U.S. Their brand can also be found in My Cuzin Vintage Cleveland located in Cleveland, Ohio, More Money Less Violence in Buffalo, New York, and on their website, but this is only the beginning. The powerhouse duo has merely gotten their feet wet in the industry, and have every intention of taking their company global.

Fans can expect a Spring 2022 collection to be released soon, as Pope confirms that the upcoming season collection is currently in the works. To purchase the items seen here and more go to https://goodtastegiftshop.com/ .
