Behind the Music

“SHE” is Starr’s anthem for celebrating women. Her mother who is a survivor of domestic abuse was also an inspiration for the song. The single also has a music video that Starr put together herself. In the music video, we see the raw expression of why she wrote the song. “SHE” also highlights the importance of International Woman’s Day and how it provides a moment to reflect on challenges that women face.

Her song “Head Over Heels” which was released in mid-February is a song about her grandparent’s love story. Starr describes her grandparents as two people who were “head over heels for each other for 60-years until they passed away.” Starr says, “When it comes to love, we want it all: sparks, butterflies, and that feeling of being obsessed with another person. But we also want lasting love, security, and healthy routines.”
