Yuasa has collaborated with Richard Haines on a swimsuit collection consisting of 3 custom designs. Yesterday at Nordstrom in New York City, Richard Haines greeted his guests with personal sketches, and at the center the swimsuits were displayed for all to see: pink jellies, blue jellies and divers imprinted onto the fabric made summer come alive! Good music and hor d’oeuvres created a felicitous setting on the second floor and people were mingling with glee! The target audience is LGBTQ and the project is benefiting the Ali Forney Center, supporting the homeless youth.
Michael Yuasa, founder of Yuasa, has been in design and marketing for several years and has worked with great illustrators prior but to work with Richard Haines is impressive! With Calvin Klein, Perry Ellis, Dries Van Noten, and Prada under his belt, he seems like quite the catch!
The swimsuits were made with an elastic waist, punched metal tassels, drawstring with mesh linings and side/back zipper pockets, making comfort appealing. The sketches had a hint of nostalgia with a retro 80’s feel.
From June 21-24th, the merchandise is held at Nordstrom in New York City. You can also find it at yuasastudios.com .
