Goldie Vargas To Release New Single “Canyon” July 13
Los-Angeles singer-songwriter Goldie Vargas’ new single ‘Canyon’ is set to release July 13. ‘Canyon’ will serve as the final teaser for her upcoming EP, ‘Golden’, ahead of its July 28 release. The final single follows previous releases ‘Strawberry Kisses‘ and ‘Moving in Reverse.’
‘Golden’ has been Vargas’ main focus for the last two years alongside producer Adam Gurr. Regarding her EP, Vargas says “I want listeners to be transported to a different world where they can be their truest selves and feel whatever emotion they want to feel to the truest extent when listening to my music. I want listeners to feel less alone, as if I took the words out of their own mind.”
Despite being only 21, Vargas draws much of her inspiration from those whose popularity surged before her time. These figures include 70s icons such as Stevie Nicks, Joni Mitchell and Townes Van Zandt.
Take a look at Vargas’ Instagram and it’s myriad of nature-forward, sun-soaked shots and it’s evident she’s nailed the dreamy, California aesthetic. “Canyon” shares that dreamy quality as Vargas’ gentle croon meets melodious, lilting vocals and mellow acoustics. The song’s lyrics, including sentiments of longing for both a past version of Vargas’ self and an old love, let the listener in on what feels like a personal glimpse of the singer-songwriter’s thoughts.
Vargas says about the meaning of ‘Canyon’ – ‘Canyon’ is about the personal conflict of missing the person you were with and the relationship you once had, but also missing the person you were before you met them. The entire song physically feels, to me at least, like you are running in a field towards yourself trying to get back to your roots. I find it incredibly empowering and self loving, despite being a break up song.”
