“Dexter: New Blood” Season 9 Trailer Release
The crime drama series, Dexter, originally ended in 2013 after 8 seasons. The finale of the critically acclaimed show left many fans disappointed and demanding a re-do. Well, those fans are in luck. At the end of 2020, Showtime announced a ninth season would be released and promised the return of Michael C. Hall. Though it has been eight years since Dexter concluded, the revival season will premiere on November 7, at 9 pm EST.
Showtime released this statement in October of 2020:
“Dexter is such a special series, both for its millions of fans and for Showtime, as this breakthrough show helped put our network on the map many years ago. We would only revisit this unique character if we could find a creative take that was truly worthy of the brilliant, original series.”
The 10-episode season is set 10 years after Dexter Morgan’s disappearance. The series will take place in the fictional town of Iron Lake, located in Upstate New York. Michael C Hall’s beloved serial killer character will now be going under the assumed name Jimmy Lindsay, as he attempts to live a normal life. However, some unforeseen events in the small town will awaken his dark urges.
The new season will also see Jennifer Carpenter’s return as Debra Morgan, despite her character’s death in the eighth season of the show. Debra will appear in flashback and fantasy scenes. There has also been a number of fresh faces confirmed for the show.

Julia Jones will be portraying Angel, the chief of police as well as Dexter’s love interest. Clancy Brown will play the lead villain, Kurt Cadwell. The season will also feature Johnny Seqyouyah, David Magidoff, Oscar Wahlberg, Alano Miller, Jack Alcott, and Jamie Chung. Six of the ten episodes will be directed by Marcos Seiga, who directed numerous episodes from the past seasons.
