Jim Jones and BYRDGANG VIP Listening Event
Bronx-born rap artist and entrepreneur, Jim Jones got together with the members of Byrd Gang on Wednesday October 11th, to preview their new album, Jim Jones & ByrdGang 2.0. The album includes tracks between Jim Jones and other rap artists. Some names include Dice Payso, Keen Streets, Yellowtapee, 34Zeussy, G Mimms, Dilla Illa, and other members. The event took place in The Bodega located at 696 E 135th Street, Bronx NY.
On behalf of MNRK Urban and The Legion Media Group, the Garnette Report’s Charmaine Swasey had the opportunity to talk to Jim Jones about his new album.
CS: How does it feel to collaborate with so many great artists for your new album?
JJ: It’s just dope! There’s no other way to describe it. These guys just know how to make music, same as me, so I can’t think of a better group of guys. They know how to entertain and stay true to what the album is all about.
CS: Which is your favorite track in the new album?
JJ: Well I can’t really tell you at the moment. Really, every track is great! Though each one is rap-based, the voice and rhythm is very different, so stay tuned for those.
CS: Which part of creating the tracks was most difficult to make?
JJ: Besides the melody, it was to make sure that each track shares a greater emotion in those who listen to them.
CS: As an experienced rapper, what key skills do you use to create your music?
JJ: Well just to name a few, you gotta know how to structure your lyrics so it makes sense for people to listen to, you know? Then there’s practicing those lyrics until the delivery flow just hits right with the beat.
CS: What is the story behind this new album?
JJ: Just personal experiences and the members from ByrdGang. Again, couldn’t ask for a better crew because we share the same understanding of what goes into making great rap music. So attitude stands out more than just style, you know?
CS: What goals do you hope to achieve once the new album is released?
JJ: To perform the songs on the album and have a good time doing it.
