He started the company with the aim of creating more opportunities for diverse actors in Hollywood. The inclusive projects he makes are now going to tap into his onscreen boxing background. Perhaps it was the Creed series that trained him for the upcoming limited series on the late heavyweight champion Muhammad Ali.

Outlier Society has signed a first look deal with Amazon Studios to produce the biopic on the controversial and iconic fighter. Jordan teamed up with hip-hop icon Jay-Z’s company Roc Nation to produce the music for the film. It will no doubt have a gritty and authentic feel, in keeping with the past portrayals of Ali.

Jordan told deadline that “It’s a healthy weight to carry, to be able to tell the story of Muhammad Ali. It’s called The Greatest right now” and “we’ve partnered with the estate and we’ll be able to tell this story with no red tape. It’s a limited series that will really dive into the life of Muhammad Ali.” He teases that the series will allow viewers “to get to know him in ways we haven’t had a chance to before.” It’s a personal endeavor for him “as a boxing enthusiast, and since this is the world I’ve been living in the past five or six years with the Creed franchise. To be able to honor Muhammad Ali and elaborate on his legacy is something I’m really excited about.”

With a clear passion for the project, it’s no doubt that even die-hard Ali fans will be able to learn something new about the GOAT. The news of this deal comes as a huge success and indicator of the bright future ahead for Outlier Society.
