‘Morbius’ Hits Theaters

“Morbius,” the next superhero film based on the Marvel Comics character, hit theaters April 1. Overall, reviews for the film are not good and viewers seem to be unsatisfied with this Marvel release.

Cast

Jared Leto plays Dr. Michael Morbius. As the main character, he seems to be rather unspectacular. While several Marvel fans were excited to see the film, after seeing the movie, several called Leto lazy with his acting. Alongside Leto, cast members include Matt Smith, Adria Arjona, Jared Harris, Tyrese Gibson, and several others.

Plot

Dr. Michael Morbius is a biochemist who attempts to cure himself of a rare blood disease. Things go south rather quickly as he accidentally infects himself with a form of vampirism. He has a surrogate brother who has the same rare blood disease and discovers Morbius cured himself. His brother asks for the cure, but Morbius refuses. He is soon arrested after finding a dead nurse drained of blood and believes it was his fault. He is now in prison but soon finds out his brother takes the cure and kills the nurse.

After he is out of prison, Morbius develops a chemical substance. This will stop him and his brother, ultimately killing them both. Through several battles, his brother ends up killing Martine Bancroft, a loved one of Morbius played by Adria Arjona. However, Bancroft revives and now has new vampiric powers. Morbius is left in the dark, still believing Bancroft is dead.

While this film may not be the best Marvel movie, if fans of the franchise want to keep up with the timeline, it seems they must watch it. However, there seem to be some unresolved plot holes that do not make sense for Marvel’s Cinematic Universe. Here is the trailer for the film. For more in new movies, click here.
