Virginie Viard’s Chanel: Spring/Summer 2024
Chanel, one of the most iconic brands in fashion history, just recently debuted their Spring/Summer 2024 collection on the runways of Paris Fashion Week. Taking place at the French capital, Grand Palais, Virginie Viard brought coastal energy to the streets of France. Each piece brought a certain causal energy that Chanel is not necessarily known for. Inspired by a little home in the South of France, Villa Noailles, Viard curated a collection perfect for a summer away from home. A theme of effortless elegance was brought on by a multitude of prints, raffia, and a summer staple: flip-flops.
An Ode to Liberty and Movement
This collection is “an ode to liberty and to movement, and tells a story that has its origins in the gardens of the villa Noailles,” Viard claims. “Facing south, the villa’s volumes and outdoor spaces–from its cubist chequered garden to its sunken flower beds–light up the SS24 collection with an intense vitality,” stated by the show notes. “The exhilaration of light and colour, the profusion of geometric patterns, the play of contrasting asymmetries, patchworks, lines, checks and stripes give rhythm to a collection that sets out its own idea of elegance and insouciance.”
Monochromatic and Detailed
And Viard kept her word. This entirely monochromatic look features a pink hue that looks stunning on the runway, with white and black accents. The piece features a relaxed silhouette with intricate checked detailing, and there’s even a purse to match! Paired with undeniably relaxed black flip-flops with silver hardware, Viard has given the South of France a sense of formality.
Paris Hilton, Brie Larson, Emilia Clarke, Usher and Camille Morrone were among the guests on the front row, while Gigi Hadid strutted down the runway in all black, classic Chanel.
