Gita Omri Fall 24 Collection: “…Unclassified”
Gita Omri returns to the New York Fashion Week spotlight, unveiling her latest Fall 2024 collection titled “…Unclassified.” This highly anticipated collection explores the designer’s personal journey as an Israeli American, drawing inspiration from her upbringing in Israel and her service in the Israeli military and Air Force. She states “This collection is a reflection of my emotional reaction to the war in Gaza. I couldn’t help but reflect back on my time in the military in these troubled times.”
The “…Unclassified” collection for Fall/Winter 2024 captures Gita Omri Brown’s mandatory service years in the Israeli military, juxtaposing the rugged, utilitarian aspects of military uniforms with the free-spirited softness and beauty of the Israeli people. The runway presentation showcased a modern reinterpretation of classic uniforms, transitioning into contemporary pieces such as blouses, plaid-blocked skirts, ombre silk maxi dresses, layering elements, and coats.
Featuring diverse fabrications ranging from scuba knits in pants and tops to silk charmeuse and georgette, the collection incorporates yarn-dyed Melton plaid coatings, overprinted and embroidered laces, presenting a contemporary take on the military theme. Among the standout pieces, the jumpsuit and full-length maxi gown adorned with cargo pockets of varying shapes and sizes stole the show, constructed from a scuba knit with a signature print inspired by the designer’s painting of the Wailing Wall in Jerusalem. The diverse color palette, including peach, khaki, mustard yellow, deep teal green, lavender, mint green, olive, and terra cotta, further enhances the collection.
