Yuna Yang Debuts “Fearless” Collection
The New York based designer, Yuna Yang, has debuted her newest collection titled “Fearless” for the 2021 season. This collection holds a very close place to the designer’s heart. The inspiration behind this collection is the designer’s hometown of Seoul, Korea which is where she is originally from. All of the pieces in the collection are carefully detailed with references made to the town of Seoul.

Yuna Yang also wanted to create a sense of awareness for this collection. Unfortunately, this past year, there has been a rise of discrimination against the Asian community. Her intention with this collection is that she “wanted to express that we are all precious beings with different experiences and memories” as stated on her official website. Yang wishes for a level of unity despite all of our differences.

Throughout her collection, there is a play with colors but each piece creates a sense of serenity, peace and harmony. There is also very special detailing such as flowers, butterflies, which are elements that are nature related. All of these pieces create the idea of “different experiences and memories.” One of the pieces which was a V-neck styled jacket was created with Yang’s “signature organza (Korean silk)” as Yang shares in a short introduction to her Fearless collection.

Throughout the entire collection’s photos, there are Korean related features shown. Which creates a much more deeper meaning for the collection. The model is seen posing through different landscapes throughout Korea with all of the Fearless’ collection pieces. There was even a video produced showing the behind the scenes and end results of the entire Yuna Yang collection. Yang also drew inspiration from a historical place within Korea – which is Buckchon Hanok. Buckchon Hanok is a village found within Seoul. According to Yang, she calls it a place that has “simple and tranquil beauty.”

Before the start of her career, the designer had spent some time in Italy completing a design related course. Now as a professional designer, she collaborated with workshops in Italy to help create two pieces of her collection which was the floral patterned dress and blouse.
