T’ABBE SS27 Turns Memory Into Modern Fantasy
T’ABBE brought a deeply personal exploration of memory, inheritance, and self-expression to New York Fashion Week with its Spring/Summer 2027 collection. Presented at the iconic Serendipity3, designer Talia Abbe transformed family history into a 19-look collection that balanced nostalgia with fantasy and emotional vulnerability with strength.
For SS27, Abbe looked to the things passed from one generation to the next,not only physical objects, but creative instincts, ideas, and memories that can quietly influence how we see ourselves. That sentiment unfolded through fluid ready-to-wear, polished separates, exaggerated silhouettes, custom textiles, and the inflatable latex elements that have become part of T’ABBE’s evolving design language.
A confectionery palette of primrose pink, lemon meringue, powder blue, and deep wine added a playful sweetness to the collection. Yet beneath the whimsical colors and proportions was a more intimate story about clothing’s ability to provide protection, confidence, comfort, and escape.
A Family Archive Inspires SS27
The collection began with Abbe exploring an archive of photographs, objects, and creative works belonging to the women in her family. Among her discoveries were vintage sketches created by her grandmother for a raincoat she had once imagined making but never realized.
Rather than recreating the original design, Abbe interpreted the idea through her own perspective and T’ABBE’s contemporary vocabulary. The result became a meditation on creative inheritance—showing how an idea conceived by one generation can be transformed and given new meaning by another.
“This collection feels particularly personal because it brings together different generations and different ways of expressing ourselves,” Abbe said.
That intergenerational conversation continued through T’ABBE’s collaboration with Bring Change to Mind (BC2M), a national nonprofit focused on ending mental health stigma through youth advocacy.
Following a nationwide competition that invited students to create artwork centered on self-expression and mental wellness, selected artwork was transformed into a custom print incorporated into the SS27 collection. By bringing a young artist’s perspective into a collection inspired partly by her grandmother’s creativity, Abbe connected past, present, and future through design.
“I was able to look at something my grandmother imagined creating and reconsider it through my own perspective, while also bringing the work of a young artist into the collection through Bring Change to Mind,” Abbe explained. “They come from very different places, but both speak to the idea that what we create can carry something of our internal lives into the world.”
Fashion Meets Fantasy at Serendipity3
Serendipity3 proved a fitting backdrop for the presentation. The legendary New York destination, known for its theatrical interiors, nostalgia, and unapologetic indulgence, complemented T’ABBE’s playful approach to proportion and fantasy.
Within the whimsical setting, the collection’s dramatic volumes and unexpected details existed alongside its quieter emotional references. The result captured one of the central contrasts within Abbe’s work: clothing that can be practical and expressive, familiar and fantastical, vulnerable and protective all at once.
For Spring/Summer 2027, T’ABBE ultimately suggests that fashion can carry far more than its immediate function. Clothing can preserve memories, communicate internal emotions, create armor, or provide an opportunity to escape into another version of ourselves.
Rather than simply looking backward, Abbe uses the past as material for something new. Through SS27, memories and inherited ideas are not preserved untouched—they are reimagined, allowing multiple generations and perspectives to find a place within the same wardrobe.
Founded by Talia Abbe in New York in 2025, T’ABBE explores the relationship between clothing and emotion through volume, proportion, color, and print. Abbe holds a B.S. in Textile and Fashion Design from the University of Wisconsin–Madison and an MFA in Fashion Design from FIT. Her work draws on themes of mental wellness and the tension between vulnerability, strength, introspection, and fantasy
The presentation also attracted familiar faces from fashion and entertainment. Guests included Sam Feher of Summer House, Chelsea Vaughn of The Bachelor Season 25, and stylist, editor, and influencer Caroline Vazzana.
By placing a collection rooted in memory inside one of New York City’s most nostalgic destinations, T’ABBE created an experience that extended beyond the clothes themselves. For Spring/Summer 2027, Abbe transformed personal recollections and inherited ideas into something playful, tactile, and distinctly her own.
