Dennis Basso SS27: Uptown Meets Downtown
Dennis Basso brought his signature glamour to Gotham Hall during New York Fashion Week, presenting his Spring/Summer 2027 collection on Monday, September 14. This season, the designer introduced a new chapter for the quintessential Dennis Basso woman, blending the polished elegance associated with the house with a younger, downtown sensibility.
For SS27, the Dennis Basso woman remains sophisticated, confident and adventurous, but her world has expanded. She is just as comfortable vacationing at one of the world’s most luxurious resorts as she is disappearing to an unexpected destination off the map. That duality shaped a collection designed to move effortlessly between uptown refinement and downtown ease.
Lightness and luxury came together through an assortment of original-print silk chiffon, four-ply silk charmeuse, featherweight tweed, rich brocades and silk organza adorned with hand-embroidered beadwork. Feathers added movement throughout, while faux-fur evening boleros offered Basso’s modern interpretation of “summer fur.”
The collection moved easily from day to evening. Knee-length cocktail dresses and polished tweed occasionwear provided structured sophistication, while long and short chiffon dresses introduced softness and fluidity.
For black-tie dressing, Basso embraced drama. Gowns embellished with pearls, paillettes, bugle beads and hand-cut crystals shimmered as they moved down the runway, bringing texture and glamour without abandoning the collection’s sense of modernity.
Several looks from Dennis by Dennis Basso for QVC were also incorporated into the presentation, extending the designer’s vision beyond the runway and offering another interpretation of the season’s uptown-meets-downtown woman.
The front row reflected Basso’s longtime connection to New York society, fashion and entertainment. Christie Brinkley, Ramona Singer, Kelly Bensimon, Faith Ward and Jill Kargman were among the guests attending the Gotham Hall presentation.
Ultimately, Spring/Summer 2027 showed a Dennis Basso woman who can move between worlds without sacrificing her identity. Whether uptown, downtown or somewhere far beyond New York, she remains unmistakably glamorous.
