Thrifting! One of the many fun things revolving around fashion. If you aren’t aware of what thrifting is well it is the activity of going to places to find affordable and vintage styling pieces. Many young fashionistas, designers, and cosplayers I know go thrifting. You might have experienced this at your local Forever 21 by going upstairs to the sale section. There’s no shame in that, we love a good deal especially when it’s a great price. Being a former college graduate, people from ages 15-24 go thrifting, and I have done my fair share of thrifting. It is always a fun activity because you find unexpected items and most thrift stores have furniture as well.
However, we are still in the midst of the COVID-19 era. As emotional as this is, thrift stores have closed and the activity is on pause for the most part. I want to introduce a store I found scrolling on Instagram and this is called thredUP. This is an online thrift store! You heard me, an online thrift store which means your thrifting days can also continue online.

I decided to check this site out myself. They are offering a variety of discounts, so check out the site as soon as you can. You are able to buy and sell items, it reminds me of a Depop which is a site where people buy and sell clothing items. The categories are divided into:
- Women
- Premium
- Designer
- Shoes
- Handbags
- Accessories
- Plus
- Maternity
- Sale
If you are a first-time thrift shopper, I think this is a good site to start with because you are given many options. When you are at a thrift store in person it can be overwhelming because you are searching through the aisles for items you like. With online, this can help those who have social anxiety or have a hard time deciding where to look. Plus this way is much safer.

Goody/Rescue Boxes:
This was very interesting. When I was exploring the site, I found out that they have goody and rescue boxes which are mystery boxes that contain items in all forms: shoes, clothes, etc. The goody box is 10 items catered to your liking and budget. A rescue box is a box with more items and the items are more randomized. From what I can gather, it looks like you are surprised upon delivery. This is a fun idea if you are trying to figure out a new style for yourself.
