MAUI X LOLITA UNVEILS “A MODERN REBELLION” Fw 24

On Sunday, February 11th, Maui X Lolita (MxL), a Black-owned luxury brand, made a bold statement with its Fall/Winter 2024 collection debut at New York Fashion Week. Under the theme “A Modern Rebellion,” MxL showcased a 12-piece collection of corporate-chic office wear, complemented by five vibrant Moroccan leather handbags and the introduction of three new fragrances.

Founded by the mother-daughter duo Lolita (designer) and Maui Malone (creative director), MxL shattered conventional fashion norms by infusing bold, gender-bending silhouettes and fabrics into their latest collection. The runway featured striking pieces ranging from an indigo wool trench adorned with hand-sewn crystals to a denim jumpsuit and a tailored black and white houndstooth two-piece suit, all crafted by head designer Lolita Malone. The makeup artistry, helmed by Dominique Noelle, featured vibrant blue and purple eyeshadows paired with statement-making red lips, accentuating the models’ fierce presence. Each ensemble was accessorized with MxL’s new Moroccan leather handbags, adding a touch of sophistication to the rebellious aesthetic. Prior to the main event, MxL made a grand entrance, causing a stir as models strutted down 5th Avenue in the new wave of corporate baddie attire, symbolizing the brand’s departure from traditional corporate fashion. Lolita and Maui Malone described the show as a “perfectly executed story of traditional corporate fashion and the urge to rebel against it,” with each model embodying both modernity and rebellion through their runway presence.

The runway show featured an avant-garde performance, complete with eccentric walks, office clipboards, and even a Black rotary phone, all set to a soundtrack produced by MxL’s Creative Director, Maui Malone. The show commenced with a mix of violin strings intertwined with empowering messages about ambition and defiance, setting the tone for the rebellious showcase. In addition to unveiling new designs and handbags, MxL introduced its inaugural fragrance line, consisting of three scents—Eden, Goddess, and Empress—each paying homage to MxL legacy products.
