Launch: UNIQLO AIRism Face Masks
Global apparel retailer UNIQLO announces the launch of AIRism Face Masks at all retail stores in the United States, as well as www.uniqlo.com, on August 24th. Face masks are a simple and effective means of staying healthy in these challenging times. In East Asia, people commonly wear masks when ill, when they wish to protect themselves from air pollution or to make a fashion statement. UNIQLO drew on this widespread practice and increasing consumer demand to develop a mask that would optimize protection and comfort in daily use. The AIRism Mask reflects the UNIQLO commitment to making everyone’s life better through LifeWear. A 3-pack of UNIQLO AIRism Face Masks will retail for $14.90 and be available in white, black and grey.
A unique triple layer structure enhances performance
The AIRism Mask employs a triple-layer structure that enhances the performance that is essential for maximum efficacy. The brand’s innovative AIRism mesh fabric encloses a filter at the center of the mask. AIRism keeps wearers dry as it wicks away moisture, releases heat, and absorbs sweat while maintaining a smooth feel all day. In addition, the triple-layer structure has a UPF 40 rating, blocking 90% of ultraviolet rays.
Retains high-protection filtering even after washing
As functionality is paramount for all UNIQLO items, the brand created a reusable mask as daily wear, to minimize consumers’ environmental impact. The AIRism Mask is machine washable with regular household detergent. A testing institution proved that the filter inside the triple layer structure retains its efficacy after 20 washes at 40 degrees C (2).
More comfortable than non-woven or cotton masks
The AIRism Mask is smooth on skin. The inner AIRism layer is free of the stiffness and thickness typical of non-woven and cotton masks, reducing stress. The triple-layer mesh structure keeps the mask light and thin, optimizing breathability. AIRism fabric is also anti-microbial and self-deodorizing.
Available in three sizes
The company has created the following three sizes, drawing on its experience in apparel:
Small (W:7” x H:4.5”), Medium (W:8.5 ”x H:5.5”) and Large (W:9” x H:5.5”).
The mask should not be worn by children under the age of 2.
Listening to customers and continuously improving the mask
Today, masks have become indispensable items to lead healthy and safe lives. UNIQLO aims to offer its AIRism Mask as part of the LifeWear concept of helping people enhance their daily lives. Even after the introduction of the first product, the company will continue to maximize customer feedback and improve the quality and functionality of the mask.
