Jan-Jan Van Essche FW23
Jan-Jan Van Essche FW23 – Project #11 “RITE”
During Pitti Uomo, Jan-Jan Van Essche made his debut show, Project #11 “RITE”. The designer presented men’s contemporary fashion through a triptych presentation.
The runway show made artistic scenes with music, dance, and a series of exceptional outfits to display the identity of the brand. From the subtle rhythm of the music by composer Willem Ardui, to the wonderful dance by six dancers, it all made a stunning symphony. Moreover, renowned choreographer Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui created the story for the collection, which lifted the moment to another realm.
A laid-back elegance
The collection features mostly neutral color garments such as ivory, sand, wood tones, and black. The identical color palate defined a laid-back elegance for men.
The collection includes ample winter coats and capes in rich yak wool and relaxed silhouettes. The looks are reminiscent of layering loose-fit kimono-inspired suits. Also, the series of oversized yet fluid looks carry references to the ‘boubou’ and chemise Arabe. All in all, the collection exudes an elegant and simplistic look.
The designer enhanced their cool character by adding individual utilitarian elements to the outfits. The look emphasized the workwear influence. Meanwhile, waxed cotton garments by Halley Stevensons evoked new emotions and sensations in the Jan-Jan Van Essche sphere.
The carefully constructed garments offered a comfortable feel as well as high quality. The brand used fine materials to make a range of outfits. The lightweight wool chiffons and silken winter cotton feature tunics and shirts. The fabrics are ideal for layering style in winter. Also, it gives warmth to the wearer. While chunky knitted sweaters and hand crochet beanies are made of French merino d’Arles linen blend. In addition, the brand displayed hand-dyed cloth by skillful masters with meticulous care.
Meanwhile, the 24 models lined up for the finale. The collection merged the ancient and the contemporary.
