Coming in hot this year, the up-and-coming brand NEU_IN has recently unveiled his Spring/Summer 2022 collection.
About Seyong Kim
The ready-to-wear menswear brand was first founded in 2018 by Korean designer Seyong Kim. The brand name originated from the German word ‘neu’, meaning new, and the word ‘in’, meaning person. This image is shown throughout his work by presenting new fictional characters as the narrative character for the respective collections.
Journey to Fashion Design
Seyong Kim was born in Seoul, Korea, and studied Textile Design in Tokyo, Japan, and Fashion Design in Paris, France. After graduating from fashion school at Atelier Chardon Savard, he interned at Acne Studios and Lacoste for fashion shows in Paris. Furthering his fashion career, he returned to Korea to establish his own brand; NEU_IN. Kim uses fashion as a creative outlet for exploring his past memories and experiences. Throughout his collections, he creates a completely fictional character and symbolic object that reflect the emotion of his work.
Inspired by Fashion Film
To enhance that emotion for an audience, his brand continuously celebrates mood and emotions through fashion film. His collections focus on elevating classic suits and wearable clothing through the experimentation of different materials, layering, and unique details in classic tailoring. The nine looks revealed for the Spring/Summer 2022 collection have definitely shown the commitment to the brand’s message and the stylistic elevation of classic menswear.
The collection includes different styles of suits and tailored clothing with a modern, more relaxed, feel to the pieces. The outfits embrace classic menswear but are elevated with tapered pantlines, slouched silhouettes, belted and pocket accents, as well as experimentation with length, mesh, and denim materials. The range of designs and wearability of the pieces is extensive through both day and night looks that can be switched up depending on the wearer.
The collection is a true celebration of mood and emotion presented through color and texture which is an exciting addition to the fashion world.
