Chocheng FW2020 at NYFW

Chocheng’s muses are prominent women in film throughout the decades, especially between the 20s – 80s. This collection’s icon was Shirly Maclaine in The Apartment, which showcases the pioneering women of the time wearing tuxedos, as well as ideas of femininity with authority. Chocheng gave us the relaxed tailoring that we love to see from him, with a color palette that definitely stood out. There were lots of bright pinks, purples, and greens inspired by the disco movement and boss ladies of the 1970s and 80s. I also think that grounding these pops of color in black was a fresh and different take, showing again that balance between a flirty feminine look and a stronger masculine one. It also gave the looks a little edge, along with the dark vampy lip seen on each model.

As a dedicated designer in sustainable fashion, he also used innovative techniques such as using  hand-ruched tulle to give the effect of a fur or shearling collar, and these colored pieces made quite the elegant statement. Overall, another gorgeous collection by Chocheng.
