Byron Lars In Earnest Seasonless Collection
Despite it being the season for Fall/Winter 2022 showcases, Byron Earnest Lars challenged the idea of cold-weather fashion with a seasonless collection. This means that his collection will remain relevant year-round, and it is this ingenious thinking that has landed him the Fashion Group International’s prestigious “President’s Award for Excellence.”
In his tradition altering fashion and the spirit of reinvention, Byron Lars revisited his first collection from the 90s.
“As I approached the season, it somehow felt completely modern to exercise the principles of my first Fall collection from the 90s,” Lars said in a press release.
From the beginning, Lars has been fascinated with the idea of reconstructing and reimagining American classics and was disinterested in seasonality. The collection accentuates these ideas through the fabric, design, and styling choices.
Lars pushes boundaries in a personal favorite look by using a striped Oxford cloth, often found in Spring/Summer collections. However, through this fabric choice, Lars’s design is multi-functional, as it can be used to layer during the colder season. Layering is omnipresent in many of Lars’s designs and has become a part of his seasonless design aesthetic. In Lars’s favor, wearing warm weather articles is also on-trend during colder seasons.
Other genius design elements include removable slip linings and turnback skirt fronts that allow dresses to be dual as layering pieces and removable velvet lining to provide warmth to looks during frigid temperatures.
Another personal favorite is the reconstruction of the classic varsity jacket. In Byron Lars’s rendition of a varsity jacket, he dramatizes the shoulders, synchs the waist, and adds ruffles to the neckline to take a more feminine approach.
In addition to its seasonless aesthetic, the In Earnest collection is truly diverse. It features garments from wide-legged pants to dresses, coats, vests, and more. These articles are embellished with unique prints and encompass a variety of fabrics such as guipure lace and embroidered net.
