Dafne Keen Returns as X-23 in ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’

Disney and Marvel released the final trailer for the highly anticipated “Deadpool & Wolverine” one week ahead of its July 26 release date. It was revealed that Laura, also known as X-23, played by Dafne Keen, will be making an appearance in Disney’s Marvel Cinematic Universe.

This is Keen’s first return to the role since first playing the memorable child-mutant in 2017’s “Logan,” which she filmed at age 11 and starred opposite Hugh Jackman. As a result, it was kept under wraps until the release of today’s trailer.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Keen explained that while on her press tour for “The Acolyte,” which just wrapped up with the airing of its season finale on Disney+ on Tuesday, that she had been keeping her cameo a secret by telling press she would not be part of “Deadpool & Wolverine.”

“‘I got asked in every interview, and I just got to lie, which was really funny,’” Keen told Entertainment Weekly.

“Logan” was set to be the last time Jackman portrayed Wolverine, an iconic X-Men character. However, Jackman, who played the character for over two decades, agreed to return and has explained that he will be playing a different version of Wolverine than the one fans saw in “Logan.”

“‘There are different sides of Wolverine we haven’t seen before in the movies. It was exciting for me,’” Jackman told Empire in an interview

Director Shawn Levy has also confirmed that there are many other characters from past X-Men movies joining the MCU throughout the film.

“Deadpool & Wolverine” will see the two characters played by Ryan Reynolds and Jackman team up for a mission and make their first official introduction into Disney’s MCU. It will also be Disney’s first R-rated MCU movie, adding a new facet to the company’s staple film series for audiences.

Check out the final trailer below.

“Deadpool & Wolverine” hits theaters on July 26.
