Minju Kim Spring 2022 Collection: A Transition from Costly to Cost-Effective

In January of 2020, Minju Kim was announced the winner of the Netflix original series, Next in Fashion. Since her victory, Kim has made a name for herself as a rising star in the fashion industry with her Seoul based fashion brand MINJUKIM where youthful creativity meets innovative couture.

Although the Seoul native launched her brand back in 2015, it wasn’t until after her appearance on Netflix that her career truly began to take off. Not only did Kim take home the crown, but she also received $250,000 from Net-a-Porter to distribute her collection on their website.

However, this was not the first time Kim received recognition for her artistic craftsmanship. Shortly before establishing her brand, she won the H&M Design Award. The Next in Fashion champion could never be labeled as a stranger to the fashion world. Leading up to her days on the hit series, she also designed original pieces for popular K-pop groups such as BTS and Red Velvet.

Kim is now best known for her audaciously fun prints that typically target a more high-end audience. During an interview with Harper’s Bazaar, Kim said she’s “thrilled” to announce her spring 2022 collection where she plans to collaborate with & Other Stories, a U.K. based fashion company, to aim her target at new and more economical demographic.

“The way she expertly and effortlessly combines a playfulness with avant-garde haute couture aesthetics really speaks to us and the modern woman,” says Rocky Af Ekenstam Brennicke, head of brand and creative at & Other Stories, during an interview with Harper’s Bazaar.

Despite the change in target audience, Minju plans to stick with her signature whimsical and almost fairy-tale like style for her up and coming spring line. Until then, Minju fans can purchase items still available from her January Collection.
