The Emmy Award Night for 2020 was a virtual event, and there were many moments like Yvonne Orji’s outfit that sparked magic. The actress wore a wine red tight mermaid dress that showcased a slit to highlight her curves. In her Instagram post, she used the hashtag #ThighVonne to give praise to her entire look and everyone supporting her. The dress was from AZZI & OSTA not only did she look beautiful, but the case in point: her hair design brought power to The Black Lives Matter Movement, Women Empowerment, Black Women, and Women of Color.

The actress, nominated for Outstanding Supporting Actress in the hilarious and lively Comedy Series Insecure, took to Instagram to share with the world an emotional message with The Black Power fist in her buzzcut. Her smiling and energy are infectious, a true icon, this woman brings importance to the movement. During the pandemic, we’ve had protests in order to acknowledge The Black Lives Matter Movement. Many of us using our social media platforms to educate and spread awareness for those like Breonna Taylor and George Floyd that lost their lives, Yvonne’s haircut is a reminder that their names must not be forgotten and their loved ones deserve justice.

Yvonne Orji’s new look is something everyone is talking about and the power behind it. Moreover, Yvonne’s buzzcut gives power to women in the entertainment industry that deserves to be celebrated. It is also important to point out that The Black Power resembles a heart to recall the tragedies throughout the year 2020 has dealt with. As we go into 2021, we can symbolize Orji’s buzzcut for a call to action.
