Cats & Street Art – Meet City Kitty

MEET CITY KITTY

City Kitty is a street artist based in New York City. For years, he has been plastering his hand-drawn street art, cat creations onto buildings, posters, alleyways, and just about anything you can lay your eyes on. City Kitty got his name after growing up with 5 cats and trying to adopt neighborhood strays. He created the City Kitty image to highlight the cats of the city. Although City Kitty’s work flourishes through the streets of New York City, his work travels outside of the country.

THE CAT STREET ART MOVES OUT THE CITY

City Kitty’s work is seen just as much in many European cities, as well. His art goes to Barcelona, London, and many more places! These hand-drawn street cats combine the main elements of street art and graffiti while City Kitty adds a unique psychedelic presence to them. Apart from cats, he also draws faces in the same technique.

THE STREET ART

City Kitty has a lot of background experience in painting and Fine Art so street art was something completely different for him to take on. He uses silkscreen printing as one of his main practices for him. He does multiple prints that he draws into individual pieces. The reason City Kitty took on street art is that he was able to find a way to produce handmade art instead of only utilizing prints.

City Kitty considers himself to be a mixed medium artist. Therefore, it is no surprise that his work is seen in many forms throughout the city. You can find stickers, wheatpaste figures and if you are lucky, you can find one of City Kittys hand-painted boards which are free for anyone to take home. City Kitty likes that people connect to his art. In short, while in the city be on the lookout for these very unusual CATS!
