PLS&TY Drops Dance Track “Leave The Light On”
PLS&TY’s latest number “Leave The Light On” mesmerizes and then some. In this catchy piece, PLS&TY fuses resonant beats with singer x.o.anne’s effervescent vocals. “Leave The Light On” marks PLS&TY’s debut collaboration with Dim Mak, an independent record label founded by DJ/producer Steve Aoki. The song follows PLS&TY’s album 1 Memory, and the hit single “Your Love,” featuring Kenyan vocalist Sofiya Nzau.
“Leave The Lights On” begins with an ascending arpeggio and punctuated vocals reminiscing about a relationship that was meant to be. Before the breakdown, the singer appeals with a sense of hopefulness. Suggesting reunion through grace and forgiveness, she wonders if her lover would “leave the light on”. Here, light becomes a metaphor for optimism and traversing the pathway to reconciliation.
During the build-up, PLS&TY steps up and prepares the listener for the inevitable drop. Succeeding the drop, the vocalist persists in her plea and invokes providence — to guide her in healing. An upbeat synth interposes with the vocals increasing the tempo while introducing a frantic pace. This effective combination of ascending arpeggios and synths loops as the song prances on. The track will have you dancing and likewise leave you wondering if you should’ve kept the light on.
