Silas Short Announces Debut Album
0 comments
Chicago Native Silas Short moved to Los Angeles to immerse himself in the music scene and find his confidence and inspiration. In 2021, he packed up his car and left Chicago in search of new possibilities with Stones Throw Records. His album LUSHLAND, which will be released on April 25th, was inspired by the mental and spiritual home he found in Los Angeles. LUSHLAND is his journal, capturing him fearlessly facing his emotions through music. Last year, Silas also covered The Uniques song “My Conversations” that was featured in award winning film A Real Pain.
Silas Shorts’ newest release from the album is his song “Guy” which tells the story of heartbreak and a one-sided relationship. The smooth R&B track features layered vocals and soft beats. His style is similar to Daniel Ceasar, Frank Ocean, and GIVĒON. The blend of soulful R&B with thoughtful lyrics is sure to catch the mainstream listeners’ attention. The music video, directed by Ross Harris, was filmed near the Los Angeles River.
So far, two other songs from LUSHLAND have been released. The first, “ILIKEU” is a sweet, lighthearted letter to a crush. “L-TRAIN,” another song from the album, is about the simple joys of people-watching on public transportation. The full track list for the album includes 12 songs all depicting his new mindset on his life since moving to LA.
