Jim Jones Says Knicks In Five
In celebration of the New York Knicks winning the NBA Championship, rapper Jim Jones and streamer Zoe Spencer teamed up for a new single Ball’n (Knicks In Five), a remix of We Fly High a track off of Jones 2006 album Hustlers P.O.M.E. The song also arrives hot on the heels of Jones’ newest release, The Landlord.
The track was recorded live during Jones and Spencer’s Twitch stream in the studio of Jones’ new creative multimedia facility, The IFC Factory, and keeps the vitreous ad-libbing nature of the original. You can’t help but feel the same surge of confidence that Jones has always brought to his discography as well as smooth and radiant back-up vocals from Zoe Spencer that makes the song feel like a good feel like a real anthem to add to Next season’s playlist.
“We don’t say Ball’n, we say Brunson! ” in tribute to Point Guard Jalen Brunson, and mentions of Josh Hart and Miles Bridges; The single is a chant that celebrates the resilience and the hard, stoic work that brought the Knicks their first championship victory since 1973, and they haven’t been in the NBA Finals since 1993. The track captures the New York spirit and pride in what it feels like to be not just a New Yorker, but to be part of and root for a team that has waited 50 years for this moment.
