Cody Johnson & Luke Combs combine to ‘Shoot The Bull’
On Thursday, July 25th, country stars Cody Johnson & Luke Combs combined to release new single ‘Shoot The Bull’. This proved to be a teaser for Johnson’s 9th studio album “Banks Of The Trinity” released the next day. The 16-track album includes just two guest appearances, with Brothers Osborne featured on ‘Fool Proof.’ Johnson’s resurgence back to the top has been nothing short of remarkable. His climb began in 2023, taking home his maiden grammy for Best Country Song. Ever since, the Sebastopol, Texas native hasn’t looked back. That’s not to mention his electrifying start to 2026, taking home both Male Artist of the Year and Entertainer of the Year at the ACM’s.
Combs, a multi-time grammy award nominee and global superstar, teams up with Johnson for the first time. The two previously toured Australia together and co-wrote “I Ain’t No Cowboy”. Though technically a collaboration, the track is a solo vocal performance by Combs. It is a key song on his latest 2026 album release The Way I Am.
The song certainly has a classic country vibe. It relies heavily on iconic country imagery centered around a cowboy’s mainstays: Beer drinking, hunting, honky tonk and the great outdoors. It celebrates going out, staying up late with friends and cutting loose a bit. It’s playful, catchy and exactly what you’ll need on a beautiful summer night sitting around the fire, “Let’s load up some silver bullets, saddle up some old barstools / Set our sights on 2 a.m. and let the rowdy cut loose / Forget all of our problems, take that corner quarter jukebox to school / Crank up a little possum and shoot the bull.” It’s exactly what you’d expect from this country duet.
Johnson and Combs in 2026: What’s Next?
Cody Johnson is set to continue his “Cody Johnson Live 26” Tour later this month. Special guests at select shows include Parker McCollum, Chayce Beckham, Clint Black and more! The North American leg will conclude on September 19th at the Canada Life Centre in Winnipeg, MB. Multiple international fall dates include stops in major cities like London on October 27th, Glasgow on November 2nd and Dublin on November 5th. All other tour information can be seen here.
Luke Combs is on a major world tour of his own, currently selling out stadiums on his “My Kinda Saturday Night Tour”. Though his time in North America appears to have concluded, Combs’ European influence is off the charts. In just over a month, the country phenom is traveling across Europe to headline some of its most iconic venues. It concludes with three back to back to back shows at Wembley Stadium in London, UK. And with ten shows still to come, there’s still time to see one of the most electrifying country performances on the market. If you’re interested in more information, click here!
