Jason Derulo’s “Mi Chico” is the Perfect Summer Single
OnFriday, June 26th, multi platinum artist Jason Derulo releases his newest single “Mi Chico”. The track comes just two days before the official start of Summer. And that’s no coincidence. The Pop Star collaborates with DJ Goja andMelody on a track that just feels like summer. It’s Derulo’s 3rd release in 2026 following his January EP “The Last Dance (Part 1) and April single Sexy For Me – Remix (Feat. Kevin Gates & Ibrahim Maalouf). This newest single sees the world renowned singer-songwriter captivate audiences yet again on an infectious beat.
The Song is an energetic, vibrant, house track that invites listeners to get up and move their body. It’s energy is truly contagious. It blends traditional Afro House grooves with Latin inspired lyrical rhythms. It’s akin to what we’ve grown used to with Derulo, yet it’s something different entirely. It’s got the feel good energy of his popular pop songs with a more house-centric flow.
A Summer of Fun and Good Vibes
Additionally, there’s no coincidence that this song releases just before summer. It’s the quintessential summer song that can be played in a club, party or hanging with friends by the pool. Derulo’s versatility yet again shows why he’s one of the most successful pop musicians in the 21st century. His ability to connect cultures and different audiences is remarkable and well known by all. There’s no better example of this than his 2018 World Cup Anthem “Colors”. With the 2026 FIFA World Cup in full swing this summer in the United States, Mexico and Canada, Derulo yet again delivers a song fitting for the moment.
The song has already created a buzz on Social Media through a rapidly growing dance trend. Ever since the song was announced, Derulo himself has posted countless videos of the dance to his personal Social media accounts. Of course many of the pop star’s song’s have gone viral on TikTok including “Savage Love” and “Take You Dancing”, but this might eclipse them all. Derulo took to his personal TikTok account to yet again participate in the the viral dance and announce the filming of the song’s music video.
Fans can see the blend of pop, R&B, and dance music live this summer during his 2026 ‘The Last Dance World Tour’. He will pay prominent festivals and outdoor venues as well as massive indoor stadiums. The tour will feature multiple key regions in Europe like Monte Carlo, Monaco and Rosenheim, Germany. But the bulk of the traveling with be done down under as almost half of the 14 shows will be played in Australia.
