Bruce Springsteen forced to postpone May 8th Philadelphia show
Bruce Springsteen and the E Street band were forced to postpone their show on May 8th at the Xfinity Mobile Arena in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. This was set to be the American rock legend’s 13th stop on his ‘Land of Hope & Dreams American Tour’, but a scheduling conflict following the 76ers Game 7 win against the Boston Celtics on Saturday night has complicated things. Springsteen’s tour was scheduled to conclude with a show in Washington, D.C. on May 27th, but will now close with this rescheduled show on May 30th in Philadelphia. The city of brotherly love must wait a little longer to see Springsteen’s classic electrifying performance.
The 76ers, who share the Xfinity Mobile Arena with the Philadelphia Flyers, erased a 3-1 series deficit in round 1 for the first time in their 80 year history on Saturday night. The star trio of 2-time MVP Joel Embiid, 2-time NBA All-Star Tyrese Maxey and Rookie of the Year runner-up VJ Edgecombe combined for 87 of the team’s 109 points in the Game 7 victory. Embiid, who was injured for the first 3 games of the series, led the way with 34 points, 12 rebounds and 6 assists. Celtics star Jayson Tatum was unable to suit up for the win or go home Game 7 as he continued to deal with left knee stiffness. 2024 Finals MVP Jaylen Brown scored 33 in the loss. The 76ers are set to host the New York Knicks on May 8th at 7pm at the Xfinity Mobile Arena.
But the 76ers were not the only Philadelphia team who reigned victorious against a familiar foe. The Philadelphia Flyers took care of business in their 1st round series against Pittsburgh Penguins defeating them in 6 games. 28 year-old Goaltender Dan Vladar boasted a .937 SV PCT, 1-61 GAA and recorded 2 shutouts to lead the Flyers to victory. This marks the first time since the 2011-12 season that the 76ers and Flyers have won a playoff series in the same campaign. The Flyers are slated to host the Carolina Hurricanes on May 7th and 9th at Xfinity Mobile Arena.
May 30th will be Springsteen’s first appearance back in Philadelphia since 2024 where he performed 2 shows at Citizens Bank Park in late August. The Boss also joined country folk singer Zach Bryan on stage earlier that month to sing a rendition of ‘Atlantic City’. If you wish to see that performance, click here.
