London singer-songwriter Cat Burns is on the rise with her powerful and honest songs. The 21-year-old singer-songwriter’s Instagram bio reads “helping you get through one sh*t song at a time.” Cat Burns has gained a huge following on social media recently, especially TikTok. Burns foregrounds her story as a young LGBTQ+ artist in many of her songs. Her goal is to “help Black queer artists” tell their stories.

One of her most popular singles, “Go,” first went viral after posting an acoustic version to the app. The talented artist recently released “Go (Lower & Slower),” a slow and reverbed version of her single “Go.” The original track amassed over 13 million streams on Spotify. The slow and reverbed version is well on its way to popularity as its already received over 1 million streams.

Not long before the release of “Go (Lower & Slower), she released “Free.” “Free” is a single recalling Burns’ experience of coming out to her family. It is also a celebration of self-acceptance. The artwork for the track is a photo of Burns with her mother, who she described to NME in an interview as “the free-spirit that encouraged me to sing.” As she discovers herself and her confidence she does so while making music with her rich voice.
