Dylan Conrique is not only an amazing artist but the best friend we never knew we needed. The 17-year-old actress, singer, and dancer is known for her role as Kayla on the popular web series Chicken Girls. She has also had roles in other films. Conrique recently released her newest single “Birthday Cake.” “Birthday Cake” is one of the best singles she has released to date.

Behind “Birthday Cake”

Dylan Conrique wrote this song for her best friend, Caeleigh Thatcher. Thatcher’s life changed forever after her mom passed away from cervical cancer when she was 12 years old. After a phone call with Thatcher, Conrique was on her way to a writing session when she thought of lyrics for the song. In the chorus of “Birthday Cake,” she sings,

“Want you to live like the world’s on fire/Want you to love like hearts don’t break (Don’t break)/Never look down when you walk the wire/Like she made it to 48, still made your birthday cake.”

You can hear the vulnerability in Conrique’s voice and in this song that she poured her heart and soul into making. Since being released “Birthday Cake” has amassed nearly 4 million streams. The song has also reached thousands of fans. Many have gone to Tik Tok to share their own stories of grieving the loss of a loved one. Conrique has brought comfort to her listeners and has reminded them to keep living life to the fullest. Furthermore, she has released a 2-part behind the song video as well as a visualizer on her YouTube.
