If there’s anywhere to live year round–it’s no doubt Southern California, specifically San Diego. The weather is always perfect, you get the beach and mountains, and who doesn’t want a lively city with quiet suburbs nearby?

While some people are lucky enough to live there, visiting is just as nice when it comes to a vacation. Overall, San Diego is gorgeous with great food and cool people—but if you get the chance to visit, these are the 5 places you MUST go (if you’re not already staying there).

1. La Jolla

Also just outside of Pacific Beach, La Jolla is one of the richest cities in the country. Views of the beach can be seen almost anywhere with the hill-y landscape, and there’s a seal/sea lion viewing area. A great place to go with family, friends, or a significant other, La Jolla is a great place to grab an electric scooter and ride around!

2. Pacific Beach

If you’re into partying or like a nightlife scene, Pacific Beach is definitely for you. Everything from restaurants, clubs, bars, and even the beach are all within walking distance or a short bike/scooter ride. The outstanding boardwalk tops off this beautiful place.

3. Downtown San Diego

For shoppers and food buffs, Downtown San Diego is for you! With so many incredible stores and restaurants, you get the city feel being surrounded by large buildings and things to do, while the beach is still right around the corner!

4. Sunset Cliffs

The sunset cliffs are located in a prominent suburb just outside of Pacific Beach/Downtown. Enjoy beautiful cliff views that overlook the beach while taking a walk, watching the sunset, or having a picnic of some sort. It’s a picture-perfect place, and an absolute serene getaway.

5. Coronado Island

If you’re into history or a quiet town, Coronado is for you! The Coronado hotel is absolutely stunning (especially if you can afford to stay there)! Spend a day there having lunch overlooking the ocean, or even shop around at some of the boutiques and stores near the hotel.
