Five Products You Need to Achieve a Radiant Summer Look

Five Products You Need to Achieve a Radiant Summer Look

  1. Tinted Moisturizer

One of my go-to summer products to wear on hot and humid days is tinted moisturizer. I prefer tinted moisturizer over foundation during the summer because there is nothing worse than stepping outside and immediately having all your makeup blotch from sweating. For summer, tinted moisturizer is more gentle on the skin and plenty tinted moisturizers come with SPF for sun protection. A tinted moisturizer I recommend is the Complexion Rescue™ Tinted Moisturizer-Hydrating Gel Cream Broad Spectrum SPF 30 by BareMinerals–in my experience with this tinted moisturizer, I’ve found that a little goes a long way. The best way to apply it is putting a pea sized amount on the back of your hand and dotting the product all over your face, blending with either a foundation brush or your fingers–I prefer the latter. Once it melts into your skin, the tinted moisturizer gives you a natural glow. Plus, it protects your skin from the sun!

         2. Sunscreen

While we’re on the subject of sun protection, I can’t fathom enough how important it is to use sunscreen, even if you don’t burn easy! Sunscreen on the face is for anyone who may be prone to acne. Once the light of the sun hits those sensitive spots on your face, it can cause those spots to become more damaged and red. Tinted moisturizer with SPF isn’t enough–it’s always good to have a base sunscreen to lay under the moisturizer. I recommend the Neutrogena Clear Face Sunscreen Lotion SPF 55. On the bottle, it says it’s ultra light, oil free and water resistant–all claims that I can back with my experience! I was afraid to use sunscreen on the face because I didn’t want my skin to breakout from it, but the good thing about this sunscreen is that it is also break-out free. So far, I haven’t had problems yet. It goes it smoothly and lightly and immediately sinks into your skin for protection.

        3. Lipgloss

Summer comes with many different makeup looks you can do, but my favorite type of look to go with is a “no makeup, makeup” look. One of the essentials for this is definitely lip gloss. It’s easy, versatile and won’t make a mess on your face if you are eating something, like liquid lipstick will cause! Plus, lip gloss adds to that natural glow we all want and crave for during this time. Summer is about the glow. Lip gloss can help get you there. My go to lip gloss is the Gloss Bomb Universal Lip Luminizer by Fenty Beauty in the shade ‘Fenty Glow.’ It’s a gorgeous rose tinted nude which works for absolutely any and every skin tone. It doesn’t feel sticky like some lip glosses can and it stays on for a long time–I’ve only ever needed to apply twice in one day.

       4. Highlighter

The glow keeps on going. The point of a natural look is to use as little as possible, but sometimes I like to the bend the rules. Plus, who can resist a highlighter so bright to add to that summer glow?! You don’t have to use a lot of highlighter, as long as the highlighter you choose has the right pigment and gleam. Highlighter lays on top of your sunscreen and tinted moisturizer like it belongs there. It’s to add that extra pop in your look–and when the sun hits your cheekbones? Forget about it. Highlighter is the cherry on top of a perfect summer look. For different skin tones, I recommend two highlighters: for medium to darker skin tones, the Ofra Cosmetics x NikkieTutorials collab highlight in ‘Glow Goals’ which is a gorgeous champagne neutral–for fair to light skin tones, I recommend the Becca Cosmetics Shimmering Skin Perfector® Pressed Highlighter in ‘Moonstone’, a beautiful pale gold.

      5. Dewy Setting Spray

The last item you need in your purse or backpack to finish off your summer look is a setting spray, preferably a dewy setting spray. Matte looks are gorgeous, but we’ll save them for the colder seasons. For warmer seasons, a dewy setting spray is the final item you need to have a radiant summer look. It keeps your face hydrated all day and makes sure your makeup stays put. Plus, sometimes they have a light fragrance in tune with the season. My favorite setting spray is the Dewy Set Setting Spray by Anastasia Beverly Hills. It has a hint of coconut and vanilla scent, but more importantly, after a spritz it leaves you feeling refreshed and looking radiant.
