Donald Trump Indicted For Fourth Time In Efforts To Overturn 2020 Presidential Election

Donald Trump and 18 other constituents were indicted in Georgia on Monday over efforts to overturn his 2020 election defeat in the state and counts of election fraud.

A nearly 100-page indictment, the document details the acts Trump and his colleagues, performed in attempts to repeal his loss. The defendants include his former lawyer Rudy Giuliani, John Eastman, a conservative lawyer, and Mark Meadows, former White House Chief of Staff.

The document includes 41 total counts, CBS News reports. The charges include 13 against Trump and 30 unindicted co-conspirators — 19 people face charges of “the offense of violation of the Georgia RICO Act,” among other charges.

What does the indictment say?

The document begins with laying out the process of what took place in Georgia after Trump’s loss in the 2020 election, stating that the defendants facing charges declined to acknowledge Trump’s defeat, and deliberately and consciously became part of a plot to purposefully change the election’s result in Trump’s favor.

The document reports the group as “a criminal organization whose members and associates engaged in various related criminal activities including, but not limited to, false statements and writings, impersonating a public officer, forgery, filing false documents, influencing witnesses, computer theft, computer trespass, computer invasion of privacy, conspiracy to defraud the state, acts involving theft, and perjury.”

Trump and his co-defendants were accused in attempts to undo his loss by falsifying Electoral College documents and other statements to top legislative officials and gather supporters to cast false ballots at the Georgia Capitol. The defendants were also accused of harassing Fulton County election worker Ruby Freeman and soliciting senior Justice Department Officials and former Vice President Mike Pence, CBS News reports.
