Luke Titus Releases ‘From What Was Will Grow A Flower’

Luke Titus, the Chicago-born drummer, songwriter, producer, and multi-instrumentalist, has released a new album, From What Was Will Grow A Flower via Chicago’s Sooper Records. As a producer, Titus’ fingerprints can be found on numerous acclaimed projects, including Noname’s Room 25, salami rose joe louis Lorings,  Luke Titus & Cisco Swank’s Some Things Take Time, Orion Sun’s Orion, and Ravyn Lenae’s Hypnos. With From What Was Will Grow A Flower he codifies those contributions into an emergent, nearly clairvoyant statement of musical intent—blooming, innovative songwriting interspersed with virtuosic instrumental passages, underwritten by meticulously studied production techniques. A drummer by trade—cutting his teeth in Chicago’s jazz and DIY scenes—Titus’ solo work leans into a kaleidoscopic sound, pulling from the rhythmic complexity of J Dilla, the textural warmth of Toro y Moi, and the left-field instincts of a producer like Floating Points. Through out the course of the campaign Titus has garnered coverage from thatgoodsht, savingconnie, Sleeping on Gems, Pigeons & Planes among others as well as inclusions in Spotify’s Fresh Finds, Fresh Finds Indie and Jazz playlists. Apple support has include INDIY, New in Indie, Mellow Days, indie + chill and New In Alternative.

Of the album, Titus says:

“This album is about spirituality and connectivity, both with the universe and the self, as told through my personal journey. It questions reality as a way to deepen one’s connection to it. I dedicate this album not only to anyone who has been through hard times, but to anyone who relates to the cyclical nature of the human experience. And more than that, I dedicate this album to my mom.”
