‘A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder’ Adaptation Coming to Netflix This Week
Need a new murder mystery to binge? A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder will hit Netflix on Aug. 1 for viewers internationally.
The series, an adaptation of Holly Jackson’s young adult novel of the same name, will be available worldwide on Netflix just one month after its initial release in the U.K. and Ireland. Viewers in the U.K., Ireland, Australia, and Germany can stream the show on BBC iPlayer, Stan and ThreeNow, respectively.
A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder follows teenage sleuth Pippa “Pip” Fitz-Amobi, played by Wednesday star Emma Myers, as she revisits the shocking murder-suicide case that Pip’s hometown of Little Kilton is still reeling from five years later, for a school project. It is believed that Andie Bell, a popular senior, was murdered by her boyfriend Sal Singh, who later died by suicide after seemingly confessing to being the murderer.
However, Pip believes that Sal is innocent and makes his exoneration the primary focus of her project. She then enlists the help of Sal’s brother, Ravi, for her investigation to prove Sal’s innocence and uncover the truth behind the case.
The six-episode series will star Zain Iqbal as Ravi alongside Myers. Also part of the cast are Asha Banks, Raiko Gohara, Jude Morgan-Collie, Yali, Topol Margalith, Yasmin Al-Khudhairi, and Henry Ashton.
Since its publication in 2019, the A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder novel has built a strong fanbase, selling over seven million copies worldwide, making it a highly-anticipated adaptation for fans. It is the first in a trilogy followed by Good Girl, Bad Blood, and As Good as Dead. There is also a prequel novella, Kill Joy, that serves as a prelude to Pip’s eventual real-life investigation of Andie Bell’s murder.
Author Holly Jackson served as an executive producer for the series and is excited for fans to see her debut novel come to life on screen.
“Viewers can expect laugh-out-loud moments from all the teenage antics, but also all the pulse-pounding twists you’d find in the darkest of thrillers,” Jackson told Netflix’s Tudum. “Heartbreak, tears, gasps, swooning at all the PipRavi moments brought to life, watching behind a cushion, cursing my name … be prepared for it all when A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder hits your screens later this year.”
A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder will debut on Netflix this Thursday. In the meantime, watch the trailer below for a glimpse of what’s to come.
