Tadashi Shoji NYFW Fall 2019

For this season’s collection American fashion designer Tadashi Shoji took a soft, rather romantic approach  to his namesake label of evening wear. The collection reflective shear continuity of the contemporary Japanese artist’s vision of blurring couture with everyday wear to develop a new category of evening wear that could be accessible to all women. This season, like the ones preceding, Shoji enchanted observers with his collection of rich masterpieces, native to his classic signiture style, marked by sparkling gowns and sophisticated silhouettes.

Reiterating his elegant palette of deep blacks, midnight blues and romantic reds, Shoji played on modern, on trend silhouettes in this season’s line. The artist’s cast of beautifully diverse women stepped onto the runway in mesmerizing ombre skirts, off the shoulder ruffled sleeves, and scooping necklines, elevated in luxurious fabrics. The thriving, internationally acclaimed designer’s show also included stretching, long sleeve metallic dresses and magenta, glittering body-hugging gowns and flowing skirts with multi tiered silhouettes, minimally accessorized. Between posh velvet sequences of fabric, tiers of tule skirts or extravagant sequins, the collection’s aesthetic was quite the criss-cross between royal and exuberant luxury, and light and delicate grace.

The loosely majestic motif that the collection evoked was especially marked by the intricate details of some gowns, starkly contrasted from the opulent red, single-shoulder gown that glided glided down the runway, speaking to Shoji’s impeccably iconic talent as a dressmaker for occasions of celebration. Despite the diversity between pieces, they all blende to represent the trademark ease of the brand, and the modern sense of femininity that women have come to identify as Shoji.

As one of the world’s most notable emerging lifestyle brands, Tadashi Shoji has continued to amaze consumers with his strong display of grace and modest elegance on New York Fashion Week for several seasons. His brand continues to evolve as his garments receive an increasing amount of attention for their versatility as well as for their timelessness.
