New York Men’s Day Spotlights the Next Wave of Menswear for SS27

Held September 10 at Mercedes-Benz of Manhattan, the biannual menswear showcase divided its presentations between morning and afternoon sessions, creating a platform for eight designers working across menswear and genderless fashion.

The morning presentation introduced collections from Avon Anglers, Ouila, Clara Son, and Alienant, while the afternoon featured Ethan Lewy, Science Project Company, big ocean x andy yu, and Christopher Lowman.

For several designers, SS27 represented an important first. Ouila and Alienant made their New York Men’s Day debuts during the morning presentation, while Ethan Lewy and big ocean x andy yu joined the platform for the first time during the afternoon.

Together, the lineup reflected the increasingly expansive definition of contemporary menswear. Traditional categories continued to evolve as designers experimented with silhouette, craftsmanship, personal identity, and genderless approaches to dressing.

New York Men’s Day has established itself as a space for designers to introduce their work to editors, buyers, stylists, and other members of the fashion industry during one of New York’s busiest fashion weeks.

That mission continued for SS27 with returning presenting sponsor PROJECT and COTERIE by Informa, platforms connecting domestic and international buyers with contemporary apparel, footwear, accessories, and emerging brands.

Mercedes-Benz of Manhattan also returned as NYMD’s host and partner, providing the setting for both presentations.

The season expanded beyond apparel with several collaborations highlighting craftsmanship across jewelry, footwear, fragrance, and beauty.

ANONYM made its NYMD debut with the introduction of its first collection. The American men’s luxury jewelry brand presented four diamond ring designs alongside a diamond bracelet, lapel pin, and pendant. Rooted in traditional craftsmanship but informed by modern production, the collection approached men’s jewelry with a sense of precision and restraint.

American custom shoemaker Vogel NYC returned with an expansion of its ICONS Collection, introducing the Derby, Military, Roper, and Chukka boots. Handcrafted in the United States, the footwear emphasized the company’s heritage while giving customers choices in shape, function, feel, and finish. Guests were also given a closer look at the process through a live artisan demonstration.

New sponsor Wolverine brought another footwear perspective to the event with its 1000 Mile Collection, highlighting the workwear brand’s focus on durable construction and American craftsmanship.

Fragrance also entered the NYMD experience through KAYALI, the fragrance house founded by Mona Kattan. The brand spotlighted Vanilla | 28, its gourmand composition blending Madagascan vanilla orchid with jasmine, tonka, brown sugar, amber woods, musk, and patchouli.

Menswear Continues to Expand

Beyond the runway presentations themselves, the mix of fashion, accessories, fragrance, grooming, and craftsmanship demonstrated how the menswear conversation has grown beyond clothing alone.

Returning beauty partners Oribe Hair Care and Augment supported the designers’ hair and makeup looks, helping each collection establish its own visual identity within the larger presentation.

But the designers remained at the center of the day.

From newcomers receiving their first NYMD platform to returning labels continuing to develop their point of view, the Spring/Summer 2027 lineup offered eight different interpretations of where menswear can go next.

As traditional distinctions between menswear, womenswear, and genderless fashion continue to shift, New York Men’s Day remains a place for emerging voices to experiment within, and increasingly beyond, those boundaries.

For SS27, that evolution was firmly on display in New York.
