Zendaya Rumoured To be LV Ambassador
Zendaya, a fashion figure, yet not one who regularly attends fashion shows anymore, made an appearance at Paris Fashion Week. Accompanied by friend and stylist Law Roach, she was front row at the Louis Vuitton F/W womenswear show. She dressed in a slinky animal print outfit with an open black bra top. Among those in attendance were Anna Wintour and LV ambassadors Alicia Vikander and Lea Seydoux. Not only did she attend the show but she also posed for a picture with its menswear designer Pharrell Williams.
A Valentino ambassador since late 2020, Zendaya has not partnered with another high fashion brand since then. Other partnerships include Tommy Hilfiger in 2018 and Lancome and Bulgari in 2019 and 2020, respectively.
Much of Zendaya’s rise to fame was due to publicity from her fashion choices. “Another thing that I feel like helped me create an avenue in a lane of my own that was outside of Disney Channel was fashion.” she said in a conversation with Issa Rae. “Yeah, I would show up to [places] I had no business being at just so I can get the look. You know what I’m saying?”
A Louis Vuitton Ambassadorship
Nicholas Ghesguire is the current Louis Vuitton womenswear designer and appointed in 2013. Louis Vuitton has a knack for picking young, international stars that are trending due to a popular project. Though Zendaya started out as a child star, she has gained momentum due to projects such as Euphoria and Dune. These celebrities include Phoebe Dynevor and HoYeon Jung. There is no specific aesthetic that binds these stars together like, for instance, a Chanel girl.
A LV ambassadorship is trendy and everyone wants a piece of it. But a lack of a specific aesthetic or brand means that Louis Vuitton has the ability to have a wider array of stars promoting the label. But it can also be argued the brand recognition Louis Vuitton possesses means more stars are willing to come aboard the hype train.
