Tanya Taylor Fall/Winter 2021 Collection
On February 16th, womenswear brand from NYC, Tanya Taylor presented their Fall/Winter 2021 collection on Runway360. Tanya Taylor is a size-inclusive brand formed by designer Tanya Taylor in 2012. Clothes from the brand can be bought at many places, including Nordstrom Saks Fifth Avenue, Bergdorf Goodman, and Neiman Marcus.
Tanya Taylor has been worn by many public figures, including Michelle Obama, Taylor Swift, and Saturday Night Live cast member Aidy Bryant.
The collection was presented through still imagery. The items are colorful, vibrant, and impossible to miss. Instead of purses, the models are carrying pillows or potted plants that are also made out of distinct designs.
On Runway 360, the collection is described as “A personal expression of now.” With most people staying inside, pillows are a more accurate accessory than purses.
The collection consists of floral patterns, lilac, plaid, creme boots, and babydoll dresses. The clothes are meant to represent the items that surround us in our homes. In this collection, our environments exemplify us. Many of the patterns are ones you can imagine on couches, chairs, or even paintings. With this connection to home, there is a sense of comfort and safety within these clothes.
Some of the clothes, despite being a symbol of home, are fairly professional and many items could be worn to work. Examples of this are the patterned trousers, plaid coats, polka dot blazer, and berets included in the collection.
Paired with these more practical items are fun, more out there pieces, like these incredibly flared jeans and this patterned long knit cardigan.
The brand describes itself as being all about color. “Our mission is to inspire all women to live in color” is written on its website. Tanya Taylor is providing pops of color during a challenging year for the world.
