Supima Design Competition – Emerging Designer Finalists Revealed

Supima Design Competition – Emerging Designer Finalists Revealed

Today, Supima announced the final line-up of designers for its 13th Annual Supima Cotton Design Competition, which will be hosted this year in a dynamic digital format!

While the presentation will certainly look different than in years past, Supima decided that the show must go on as fashion graduates across the country struggle to find jobs or even just platforms with more awareness to share their inspirations and designs. Supima knew it was more important than ever to lend their own platform to these recent graduates and insert them into the larger fashion conversation.

The competition supports emerging talent by challenging student designers from the nation’s top fashion schools to create capsule collections using Supima cotton fabrics. The collections will be evaluated and presented in a collective digital runway show in September, timed around New York Fashion Week.

The six designers selected for this year’s competition who will present their collections in the digital showcase are:

· Amanda Forastieri, Drexel University

· Sakura Mizutani, Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising

· Jenny Feng, Fashion Institute of Technology

· Jennie Nguyen, Kent State University

· Terrence Zhou, Parsons School of Design

· Kyra Buenviaje, Rhode Island School of Design

Supima is also proud to announce that fashion designer Bibhu Mohapatra will be returning for the sixth time as mentor to the finalists, providing thoughtful feedback and insight throughout the process.
