STAMM, based in Copenhagen, has released its Fall Winter 2022 collection, created for free birds and people who long to break free.

In an interview with The Next Cartel, Elisabet Stamm, the founder and creative director of the label, elaborates on the concept of STAMM and how she came up with it — ”Starting my own brand during a pandemic, and right in the midst of some turbulent and transformative years, did at times make me feel like I was literally crazy…I knew I couldn’t travel, so I did some legitimate ‘mind traveling’. I thought about what made me fall in love with clothes and cultures. I thought about my Dad’s oily Volvo jackets and I remembered how I used to feel like we were flying through time and space in his truck. I also love the irony of the VOLVO ad saying ‘YES IT WILL FLY’ as this is the most typical Scandinavian family car and it represents everything I didn’t grow up with but was surrounded by. Yet, I felt like I was flying. I went back a bit to get that feeling back.” Directly inspired by a Volvo ad, ‘Yes You Can Fly’, is a collection that features down jackets in bright blues and greens, anoraks and cloud vests, and maki jackets paired with leather and sheer trousers.

STAMM directly explores ways of being sustainable through deadstock fabrics and the usage of recycled materials. “In everything I do, I am designing for a long lifespan, meaning that my designs are gender-neutral, made with recycled materials whenever possible, and can be worn in multiple ways (inside-out, parts that can be added or removed,” reads her website. “Sustainability and circularity is a mindset, for me, not the concept.”

In line with being environmentally friendly, the collection uses 3D design technology in order to reduce the amount of sampling throughout its creation. She defines her label as ‘Scandinavian Globetrotting’ and this collection shows it.

The pieces evoke emotion through the visible movement and draping of the fabric alongside the rich colors and the assortment of materials. The collection features 26 looks and is now available for editorial and celebrity requests.
