Reebok Unveils the Classic Leather Cardi Sneaker in Collaboration with Cardi B
On July 9, Reebok and Cardi B announced their new collaboration, a gold women’s shoe. The Classic Leather Cardi will be available to purchase on Reebok.com beginning July 16 at 10 a.m. EST.
The Classic Leather Cardi will launch via a virtual waiting room. Once in the waiting room on the day of the release, customers will be selected at random to purchase the shoes.
The striking ochre-colored shoe contains leather and suede with a sheen finish and velvet tongue. It also comes with a lugged rubber sole.
Reebok merged the Classic Leather Shoe with its Reebok Legacy 83 to create the Classic Leather Cardi. The detailing, from the intricate, asymmetrical design to the bold colors, represent Cardi B’s fierce personality and multifaceted talent.
The sneakers were designed to make a statement, combining chic and retro designs. They pull from the Retro Reebok, circa the ‘70s and ‘80s, to give a fresh take on a classic style.
Reebok has collaborated with other figures in the past, including fashion designer and singer-songwriter Victoria Beckham, Belgian designer Martin Margiel, and hair colorist Daniel Moon.
The new shoe in the Cardi B x Reebok collection represents the first product in their collaboration. Other Reebok collaborators have expanded their collection to clothing and accessories in addition to shoes.
Cardi B and Reebok announced the collaboration on social media. Reebok took to Twitter and Instagram with the announcement, “Ring ring, it’s @iamcardib coming thru in the all new Cardi Classic Leather.” Cardi B also pointed out that the collaboration is her “first colorway.”
The Grammy award-winning rapper and songwriter recently became the first female rapper to rank number one in the Billboard Hot 100s for solo songs, with her latest single “Up.” This past June, during the 2021 BET Awards she announced her pregnancy with her second child. Her firstborn, Kulture, turned 3 on July 10.
