Handbags: some of us feel naked without them; some think it is an annoyingly practical accessory. Still, their importance is undeniable. Obviously, swinging a Louis Vitton or a Gucci while walking down the street is amazing. Still, in my opinion, there is no greater pleasure than introducing friends and strangers to an emerging brand.
After spending one day roaming around New York City in a quest to invest in a new bag, I came across a series of newly found gems- emerging handbag designers that will not only spare you from breaking the bank but also allow you to stand out and possibly even create vogue!
Below are my top picks of accessible luxury brands from my trips to Saks, Bloomingdales, Bergdorf Goodman, and Nordstrom.
Marge Sherwood
Marge Sherwood bags range in price from $70-300 and are definitely the perfect option if you want a bag to both run errands and go out while looking classy and unique! Inspired by Gweneth Paltrow’s iconic character Marge Duval in “The talented Mr. Ripley,” Marge Sherwood offers sophisticated modern bags which travel through the 70s, 80s, and 90s fashion eras blending modern and vintage. Founded by Sungeun Um and Sooyoung Kim in 2016, the main feature of the bags is that they can be worn in various ways and occasions with simple changes. Founded in 2012 by two inspiring women Rachel Mansur and Floriana Gavriel, Mansur Gavriel offers an array of “Birkinesk” leather bags with a modern spin to them. The prices range from $200-500, and the brand combines both classic fashions with modern and modern design, offering bags with an array of colors that can be worn during the day and night!
