Makeup Brand ISAMAYA Comes Out With Penis-Shaped Lipstick

British makeup artist Isamaya Ffrench challenges the standards of conventional product packaging with penis-shaped lipstick.

LIPS

The new ISAMAYA collection, LIPS, beholds silver testicles with a removable shaft, unveiling the intense Cardinal Red lip color. Then there’s the Water Balm in Black Shimmer that tints and glosses the lips, also phallus-shaped. The lipstick tubes are 3 grams in weight and crafted from Zamak metal. The Water Balm features an infusion of pearl pigments, which add an extra layer of shine when reflected in the light. Comparatively, the Color Infusion stick contains a blend of botanicals like acai, pomegranate, and almond oil among others. Both products are vegan and cruelty-free. ISAMAYA will be donating a portion of the profits from the LIPS collection to Planned Parenthood.

Unexpected Triumph

Isamaya Ffrench began her career as a face painter for the theater performance group, Theo Adams Company. She made her transition to editorial beauty after being offered a body-painting gig with i-D Magazine. Ffrench later became Beauty Editor for the brand. Since then, she has created looks for runway with Vivienne Westwood and Thom Browne, editorial covers for Vogue and Bazaar, and high-fashion advertisements. Ffrench currently works as a makeup artist and creative director. She currently holds the position of Global Beauty Director for Burberry and Creative Director for Dazed Beauty. Recently, she was appointed Beauty Curator for the fashion brand Off-White.

Past Collections

The penis-shaped lipsticks compliment the uninhibitedness of Ffrench’s previous collections. Her debut, Industrial, is a 12-piece collection of neutral-toned matte packaging to fit the modern aesthetic. Wild Star, however, is more daring — with a cluster of beauty products in shimmery gold packaging with nods to American West symbols. The goal of the beauty brand, according to its site, is to “stretch the limitations of beauty” while advocating makeup as a way to embrace the true self.
