The peony, deeply rooted in Eastern culture and celebrated in poetry for centuries, serves as the muse for JUZUI’s creative endeavors. Through expressive and artistic techniques, the brand meticulously depicts the essence of the peony on exquisite garments, transforming fabrics into canvases that resemble a blooming spring garden adorned with myriad peonies in full bloom.

In the words of “Blossoms Shanghai,” where it’s said, “Silence is not the loudest,” JUZUI’s blooming peonies insist on making a vibrant statement. With dazzling colors and outstanding craftsmanship, the brand’s originality emanates loudly on the prestigious stage of New York Fashion Week, captivating audiences and critics alike with its fusion of Eastern tradition and contemporary flair.

This transcultural dialogue not only enriches the fashion landscape but also bridges the gap between traditions, fostering a deeper appreciation for diversity and heritage.

Here at The Garnette Report, we have the divine pleasure of speaking with Taoray Wang, the designer of the Juzui collection, before her NYFW debut.

Zoey: What was the main inspiration behind your newest collection?

Taoray Wang: Juzui,  full-blown flowers, leather, flower prints, and fur. I aimed to incorporate important elements like Chinese flowers, such as the peonies. You can see the color, shape, and layers that I believe inspired the entire collection.

Zoey: Were there any particular challenges you faced during the design process of this collection?

Taoray Wang: At the beginning, I struggled with how to approach the Chinese flower, the peonies. However, in the end, everything came together beautifully – the color, shapes, and cuts. I truly enjoyed the process.

Zoey: Are there any standout pieces or key elements within the collection that you’re particularly excited about?

Taoray Wang: The pink dress and green jacket that our model Mary is wearing stand out to me. I love the combination of pink and green; it looks very fresh and vibrant.
